Join our team

Here at Sorted Communications, we pride ourselves on our close, supportive, team-working culture. We’ve always been an entirely remote business, so having open, honest communication between everyone on the team has always been a top priority. We use a task management system to keep everyone on track and often work together on projects, so while you may be remote, you certainly won’t be alone.

We keep in touch with each other via:

  • Weekly team chats, where we share what we’ve got on and anything we could use a hand with
  • Monthly team Zoom socials – the single rule of which is “no talking about work”
  • Our informal WhatsApp ‘water-cooler’ group chat
  • Our annual Zoom Christmas social, complete with pop quiz (and glamorous jumpers, if you’re so inclined)

In summer 2023 we’re holding an inaugural sunflower growing competition, which may well become a yearly event if it takes root (pun absolutely intended). Will we support our sunflowers as well as we try to support our clients? Stay tuned…

We are an accredited Real Living Wage employer and offer 30 days’ paid holiday (including bank holidays) per year, company pension scheme and really flexible working hours – if you work best at 3 o’clock in the morning, then we support that!

Freelance roles

Freelance writers

Hours: Ad hoc; flexible
Location:
Remote
Salary: £25 per hour (freelance)

We build long-term working relationships with a small team of experienced freelance writers. The majority of our clients are in the NHS/health sector and so working experience in this area is a significant advantage. Native speaker standard British English is essential.

Please note that you will need to be able to make and receive phone calls and emails during normal UK business hours. You will preferably also be available to carry out some work during normal UK business hours as we sometimes receive requests for small tasks to be completed and returned on the same day; this role is not a good fit for anyone wanting a few extra hours that they can do in the evenings and at weekends.

If you’re interested, please complete our online application form. The form includes space to attach a CV and three examples of different types of your published work.

Freelance proofreaders

Hours: Ad hoc; flexible
Location: Remote
Salary: £25 per hour (freelance)

We build long-term working relationships with a small team of experienced freelancers. It goes without saying that we are looking for people with an outstanding eye for detail. You should be the person that other communications professionals come to for final proofreading, as they know that nothing will escape you.

Excellent Microsoft Word skills are essential – you should be proficient in working with preset styles and in persuading every image, box and letter on a page to sit exactly where you want it and not where Word thinks it should go! The majority of our proofreading tasks involve formatting the document in Word in line with a template. If you are not comfortable using the styles function in Word your application will be rejected.

The majority of our clients are in the NHS/health sector and so working experience in this area is a significant advantage.

Ideally, you will be available to carry out some work during normal UK business hours as we quite often receive requests for small tasks to be completed and returned on the same day.

If you’re interested, please download and complete this short proofreading and formatting test and then complete our online application form.

The application form includes space to attach a CV and to upload your completed test. As a guide, we expect the test to take about half an hour.
