Who we are

Since 2013, we’ve been working as an extra pair of hands for busy communications teams, stepping in to offer extra support, often at short notice. We focus on straightforward no-nonsense delivery of proactive communications to get the job done quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively.

Between us, we have over a century of experience working in communications teams, and we use this expertise to support numerous clients in the NHS, wider healthcare, pharmaceutical, housing, third and public sectors. We also have happy customers in finance, HR and business services.

We’re proud of being adaptable, and we’re here to help with your communication needs, no matter what line of business you’re in. We’re skilled at transforming specialised terminology into plain English. Writing about research, technical advancements, and changes to services – and what it all means for you and your stakeholders – is second nature.

Working remotely, we offer the flexibility of a freelancer and the expertise of an in-house team member combined with the increased capacity of an agency. Our clients love our ability to ‘ramp up’ quickly, meaning they can just drop us an email and we get on with it.

Our team

When urgency or demand increases, we have the agility to scale up our capacity at short notice, drawing upon a wide range of specialist skills and expertise tailored to our clients’ needs.

Our friendly and adaptable team includes highly skilled communications and journalism professionals with extensive experience in health and medical writing.

Ali

Ali
Director

Ali brings more than two decades of writing and communications experience to Sorted Communications. Having trained in linguistics and held in-house communication roles in the UK National Health Service and John Lewis, Ali set up Sorted Communications (originally known as The Effective English Company) in 2013 to provide flexible, remote communications support to in-house teams. When she is not applying her direct, no-nonsense and can-do approach to the business environment, she loves to take on the world of dragon boat racing, a passion she indulges alongside her love of travel.

Freyja

Freyja

Freyja has over 14 years’ experience in a range of marketing and communications roles, from agency account management to in-house creative services. A self-confessed grammar nerd, her natural eagle eye for detail and fixation with all things spelling related means she quickly becomes the go-to proofreader, editor and general quality controller wherever she goes. When Freyja isn’t working, or doesn’t have her head in a book, she enjoys walking in the Ashdown Forest and drinking copious amounts of tea (always made in the pot, the ‘proper’ way).
