Sorted Communications has joined NHS England, The Civil Service, House of Commons, and over 1,000 other employers in signing Wellbeing of Women’s Menopause Workplace Pledge.
To date, despite them making up nearly half of the UK’s workforce, over 900,000 women have quit their jobs because of the menopause. The pledge was put in place to encourage organisations to take action, take the menopause seriously and provide support to those who need it.
“The menopause is a real concern for many of the women on our team,” says our director Ali Marsland. “We recognise that it can be challenging, and we’re committed to supporting any of our team who may be affected by it.”
We’re a wholly remote agency that places a high value on work-life balance, and our flexible work model allows all of us a great deal of choice and control around when, where and how we work.
Ali continues: “As we all work remotely, it’s really important that each member of the team feels comfortable in coming forward if they’re struggling with anything at all. We work hard to consciously encourage a culture in which everyone feels confident in speaking up, knowing they’ll be listened to.”
Menopausal symptoms include hot flushes, anxiety, insomnia, and memory or concentration problems and they can have a detrimental effect on day-to-day life, but many women going through the menopause have had to try to manage it on their own.
By signing the pledge, we’re demonstrating our commitment to:
- Recognising that the menopause can be an issue in the workplace and support is needed
- Talking openly, positively and respectfully about the menopause
- Actively supporting and informing colleagues affected by the menopause.
