Alison worked in the NHS as a healthcare scientist in one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals for over 25 years, before a mid-life crisis and a newly school-age child led her to become a freelance editor and proofreader. Having been responsible for the delivery of urgent diagnostic test results that always needed to be right first time, she understands the importance of accurate, clear, timely communication. She is an intermediate-level member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.
When she isn’t working, Alison enjoys spending time with her husband and young son, and escapes from Yorkshire to the wilds of Northumberland whenever she gets the chance.
